It’s my pleasure to welcome you to the website of the Omani Intellectual Property Society, hoping that you can now find on its pages whatever you want in terms of enriching knowledge and adequate information. The Omani Intellectual Property Society has been set up by His Excellency Sheikh, Minister of Social Development’s Decision no. 169/2017 dated 26 December 2017 to publicize the Society and register its statutes in the Ministry’s Register of Associations under the number: 118/2017. . The Omani Intellectual Property Society aims to cultivate an awareness of the importance of protecting the intellectual property; to revitalize and give effect to the intellectual property rights; to support and encourage talented individuals; to promote scientific research and create a network of national scientific capabilities in the field of intellectual property; and to promote the exchange of expertise and knowledge on various areas of IP-related topics. The establishment of the Omani Intellectual Property Association is one of the most abundant products of the IP Pillars and also a mean of imparting knowledge and information to the public in the context of the national strategy of innovation that is supervised by the Research Council (TRC) which, in turn, promotes an innovative national environment according to a unified national vision and through interlinked cooperation and harmony among all relevant parties. The website of the Society is constructed to act as the Society’s interface and address in the vast cyberspace and also as a habitat for everybody seeking knowledge in the fertile ground of intellectual property fields, as this website gives a full account and adequate presentation and explanation of the Society’s objectives and vision, etc; thereby reflecting the interest of the Board of Directors of the Society in reducing distances and getting closer the public and Society’s esteemed members or to those brothers and fellows who would like to know more about the goals and different activities of the Society. Likewise, the website of the Society is intended to project a positive image of the community and professional efforts achieved in this beloved country under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, may Allah preserve and protect him, to enable the professional associations to act in support of the governmental, non-governmental and private sectors in the various efforts, specifically in the sphere of intellectual property which is fertile ground with plenty of room for everybody to join, and to make all possible effort to disseminate knowledge and raise awareness of the importance of this filed. The Omani Intellectual Property Society looks forward to familiarize all groups within the community with the intellectual property rights and to raise awareness among employees in the public and private sector, universities, schools, employers, companies, factories, inventors and all segments of society. It also seeks to maintain contacts with institutions, communities and individuals to provide answers to any queries related to intellectual property, explain ways of protecting the intellectual property rights and provide information and advice to all those who want them. That plus to organizing meetings and lectures for all sectors with a view to give definition to the intellectual property and clarify how to protect it, and hosting a number of key figures specializing in various areas of intellectual property. These services are extended to the members of the Society as well as to those who are not members, while on the other hand, membership in the Society has been opened up for new members to avail themselves of the services that are available. The Omani Intellectual Property Society is on a perennial quest for learning about further developments in all aspects of public life, keeping abreast of the latest developments in the world, and cultivating the spirit of knowledge and familiarity among generations. This really pays off by maintaining contact and sharing knowledge with the outside world while trying to get to latest inventions and applying them; not to mention urging and encouraging the generations to innovate and inventions from a young age to become inventors in the near future. One of the aspirations of the Society is to maintain links with international bodies, research centers and specialized agencies around the world in a way that supports its objectives and aspirations, hoping that it will attain all goals and purposes assigned to it and establish the essential pillars of knowledge in the area of IP and the aspects of its protection, given its effective role in supporting the industrial progress and increasing the patented innovations. The fields of intellectual property are multiple and extended, and pursuing this path will definitely lead us to many aspects that we aspire to get to know more and more in order to provide them in an integrated manner to those who seek knowledge. Thanks to the concerned public civil and private actors, and together with their assistance and endeavors with us, those objectives will be achieved, if Allah wills. In conclusion, we ask Allah, the Almighty, to retain the grace of peace and security in our beloved country; to grant His Majesty the Sultan a good health, well-being and a long life; and to help us perform our duties and carry out our works to the fullest, so we can return the favor to this valued country whenever possible and as much as we can, All the best,
